Boron Carbide And Low Temperature Boron Carbide Synthesis Methods

After the diamond and cubic boron nitride, boron cabide is the hardest material. Because of its low density, high chemical inertness, high hardness and melting temperature advantages, it as an important component in corrosive chemicals, defence industry, nuclear technology and air-space industry.

Today, approximately %95 of the total products used in world boron carbide market are produced by traditional carbothermic reduction method. Carbothermic reduction method has some problems for today’s regulations such as toxic gas and dusting. For these reasons, traditional methods has not sustainability and researching for new manufacturing technics are increasing.
