ANTIBACTERIAL BIODEGRADABLE Zn-Mg-Ag ALLOYS DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT FOR DENTAL APPLICATIONS

Biomaterials are used as a treatment method to improve human health during the recent years. Biomaterials used in dental applications are usually taken from the body with a second surgical intervention after completing the task in the body so biodegradable materials eliminate the need for second intervention. The main purpose of this study is to design and develop antibacterial biodegradable alloys which are become alternative to previous studies such as PTFE Membranes, titanium alloys, stainless steel, magnesium alloys, cobalt base alloys. The basic features of the study are to select suitable materials for a biodegradable and antibacterial alloy, to produce with appropriate processes and to test that they have the necessary properties. The expected properties of the material are as follows: biocompatibility and antibacterial properties, high corrosion resistance, suitable degradation time and characteristics for the human body, and the mechanical properties required for dental applications. For this expected property, materials are tested with the necessary experiment.
